About the Gjelina Group

The Gjelina Group mission is to consistently create a thoughtfully nuanced experience throughout a variety of hospitality offerings. Named for founder Fran Camaj’s mother, Gjelina opened on Abbot Kinney Boulevard in 2008, serving locally-sourced, produce-forward food and becoming a staple in the Venice community.

Since then, our businesses have evolved with our neighborhood — with our menus guided by conversations and long-standing relationships with Southern California farmers, local ranchers, fishermen, and co-ops.

We now own and operate our restaurant Gjelina, Gjusta (our deli-bakery-cafe), GTA (our take away spot), Gjusta Goods (our retail store), Gjusta Grocer (our market and grocery), and Gjusta Flower Shop. Alongside we operate our nonprofit Gjelina Foundation and Gjusta Studios, our evolving spaces for interdisciplinary creative residencies. Our future ventures include a Gjelina in New York City, opening fall 2022.

Gjelina started in owner Fran Camaj's Abbot Kinney apartment in 2008 — with his apartment in what's currently the Gjelina kitchen, and the front dining room originally a French vintage furniture and repair shop.
Our restaurants source fresh produce directly from SoCal farmers and most of the meat and seafood from local ranchers, fishermen, and co-ops. We shop at five farmer’s markets throughout the week and receive deliveries daily.

Our work is grounded in longstanding relationships with our vendors and local farmers — seasonality and quality guide our process, with our evolving menus an ongoing dialogue between our farms, chefs, and produce buyer.
