The July Mulberry Box
A taste of the Gjelina Group restaurants interpreted through a single ingredient. This July our chefs at Gjelina, Valle, Gjusta, and GTA created a lineup all spotlighting the organic mulberries from Forbidden Fruit Orchards in North Santa Barbara County, CA.
The pantry boxes are available in limited edition and ready to ship nationwide.
The Mulberry Box includes:
GTA Mulberry Granola: A summer take on our signature granola, a blend of dried mulberries, pumpkin seeds, black sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, almonds, cardamom, vanilla, and cinnamon.
Gjelina Mulberry Jam: Our classic jam — pairs perfectly with a loaf of Gjusta sourdough
Gjusta Mulberry Vinegar: Infused vinegar for making salad dressing (pair it with the Gjusta olive oil!) or marinade, or pairing with sparkling water as a refreshing summer shrub.
Valle’s Mulberry Chile Syrup: Use as a key ingredient in our spicy-sweet summer cocktail, with:
1.5 oz. dark rum
1 oz. mulberry syrup
.5 oz honey syrup (1:1 honey to water)
Top with club soda
Gjusta Everyday Extra Virgin Olive Oil: Be the first to try our new everyday olive oil, made with Koroneiki olives that were grown and processed in selected regions of Crete & Peloponnese. Both buttery and vibrant, with a bit of bright spice, for cooking, marinating, and finishing.
About the Farm:
The mulberries in July’s Pantry Box come from Forbidden Fruit Orchards, a farm owned by winemaker and horticulturist Sandra Newman in North Santa Barbara County. Amid acres of Fuji apple, Haas avocado, fig, plum, hardy kiwi, blueberry, and wine-making chardonnay and pinot noir plots, Newman grows these fragrant Morus alba ‘Pakistan’ mulberries, perfectly ripe this month
